Socialism with Chinese Characteristics

Ideas about communism, as held in the west, are somewhat different from the ideas about communism as held in the east.

I would like to mention some of the positive things that I am experiencing as I have lived and worked in China for the last five years.

Let's not look upon the demise of our financial base as a bad thing

We are now beginning to hear predictions of even less growth, and the likely length of the depression increasing.

It's a little unfortunate that the only people who can get a word into the newspapers or onto the television, are in fact prime candidates for being helped by the men in white coats.

"Our culture and Western Civilization are so threatened from within -- the system's own contradictions and failures -- that collapse prevents us from imagining in much detail what kind of new (or traditional, close-to-nature) culture or society can be around the corner. Likewise, technology worship and clinging to material things hold us back."

Two riders were approaching, and the wind begins to howl…..
Image The howling winds of February visited many parts of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, with a level of damage that made you sit up and take note. One neighbor lost a temporary house. Branches and whole trees were down everywhere and green mangoes literally carpeted the yards and streets.
