Standard Two-Session Consultation
In our first session with you, we have a conversation about the concerns, issues, and decisions that you are facing and fill any knowledge gaps with respect to trends in society and science. We can optionally give your team a briefing on the converging crises of climate change and peak oil at an appropriate level of detail or have a question and answer session. We can also explore a project close to your heart that may involve engineering and design; areas include land use, energy, materials, health, spirituality, or changes to diversify your business or your personal portfolio.
After the first meeting, we take your concerns and work on the information and insights we have gained. In the follow-up session, we address all the open questions from the first session and submit our recommendations, pointing you to additional resources or third parties as appropriate. You may wish to retain us further, or retain some of our outside associates we recommend, to research or create a program or study.

Our Team
Jan C. Lundberg, a national speaker, writer and publisher, is best known for running what was widely considered "the bible of the oil industry," Lundberg Survey Inc. In 1979 the firm predicted the Second Oil Shock. After 14 years there, he left for-profit work to found the nonprofit Sustainable Energy Institute, now Culture Change. For almost twenty years he has studied peak oil, energy alternatives, and conservation based primarily on grassroots change in lifestyle. He has assisted clients interested in the impacts of peak oil and climate change on material security and community connection. Educated in Europe and on the high seas, he has pursued an adventure called a career that is still evolving.
Albert Bates is founder of the Ecovillage Training Center at The Farm in Summertown, Tennessee, and author of The Post-Petroleum Survival Guide and Cookbook: Recipes for Changing Times (New Society Publishers, 2006). In 1990 his book Climate in Crisis: The Greenhouse Effect and What You Can Do, with a foreword by Al Gore, stemmed from 15 years of litigation over climate change and water issues. Albert has had a lifelong interest in communal studies and is past president and chairman of the board of both the Ecovillage Network of the Americas and the Global Ecovillage Network. His work at the present time involves creation of a network of rural ecovillage experiments in Mexico and education of local government authorities there to the twin crises of peak oil and climate change.
Alice Friedemann knew about the energy crisis for decades because her geologist grandfather, Francis Pettijohn, was a friend of M. King Hubbert. Alice has been part of the peak oil community since discussions began on EnergyResources and attended many ASPO conferences. She’s spoken at U. C. Berkeley on biofuels and published at CultureChange, EnergyBulletin, EnergyPulse, TheOilDrum etc. She has a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry/Physics minor from the University of Illinois, and is a member of the Northern California Science Writers Association. She was a senior-level systems architect and engineer for 25 years in health care, banking, and transportation. Her website is www.energyskeptic.com.
William Le Bon in-line skated across the U.S. in 1990 to raise awareness about global warming and to promote non-fossil, human-powered transportation. He has been a climate activist ever since. He founded the Santa Cruz Hub for Sustainable Transportation and Santa Cruz's Pedaler's Express. He was a climate organizer for Greenpeace and attended the IPCC's post Kyoto summit in The Hague, Holland. He has also conducted experiments in extreme green living by living in a wickiup for two years while learning about wild edible plants. Currently, he is researching mega-solutions for global warming and believes the solution to saving our precious planet will take everyone: individuals, government and industry. He has a B.A. from U.C. Berkeley in geography and environmental studies.
Jim McGreen is Secretary of the Climate Protection Campaign, Santa Rosa. Jim's background includes: Chairman/CEO of dLoo, Inc. - a software development company; Past President and CEO of ZAP Power Systems; Board member of Farm9, an internet security company; Board Member of LITE Initiatives, which is the parent to CarLite and Community Bikes; he has been to Burning Man 16 times.
Dave Room is founder of Energy Preparedness (www.energypreparedness.net), a consultancy on relocalization and municipal response to our energy predicament. Previously, he played a key role in many aspects of Post Carbon Institute’s emergence including conceptual frameworks, web design and development, policy, outreach, and fundraising. He is an interviewer for Global Public Media, as well as a frequent lecturer. He has a Masters in Engineering Economic Systems and a B.S, in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
Cal Simone is a writer, speaker, coach, and teacher influenced by Carl Jung. In the 1970s and 1980s, Cal produced musical recordings for airplay in D.C. and New York. In the 1990s, he founded an award-winning Macintosh software company that helped publishing clients while he helped Apple Computer implement standards for AppleScript. Cal began his involvement with Bay area peak oil groups by speaking at an Oakland post carbon meeting on "Consumerism at the End of the Oil Age" and the societal and psychological implications of a post-peak collapse. Cal is a principal member of the Tribe of Men.
